A Bit About The Middle Eight Hotel in Covent Garden

One of the things that made us book The Middle Eight Hotel was its location, and oh my god what a choice that turned out to be!

It’s right in the heart of Covent Garden, with the hotel’s site offering immediate access to iconic sights, theatres, and markets.

The location was perfect since Rach loves a bit of shopping, and I’m always up for checking out the local spots.

We found it more than easy enough to go to Holborn underground station and grab the underground to anywhere we needed to get to – honestly, the transport links couldn’t have been better.

It’s a luxury hotel, but at the same time offers warm hospitality that doesn’t feel stuffy or pretentious at all.

Guests enjoy exclusive benefits when booking directly or through certain programs, such as welcome amenities and potential upgrades.

When we walked into the lobby, you could immediately tell this wasn’t going to be one of those places where you feel like you have to whisper.

The rooms are really well designed with decent amenities, and the restaurant serves very nice food that is served with attention to detail and actually exceeded our expectations. The friendly staff are always willing to help, and special requests can be accommodated to enhance your stay.

The breakfast is one of the best I’ve had in London, and I’ve stayed at quite a few places over the years.

The bar is also great, with some nice cocktails – we ended up spending way more evenings there than we originally planned, just enjoying the atmosphere and chatting with other guests.

First Impressions of Middle Eight Hotel

Middle Eight is roughly a 3 minute walk from Holborn station, I kept on saying to Rach on the walk to the hotel how central it was. This was until we walked up to the hotel entrance and oh my god I was amazed at how nice the building looked.

You could tell straight away that it wasn’t your average hotel – this place had something special about it.

There are massive windows onto the bar and reception, next to the main entrance is the name of the hotel in gold writing.

Before you even go into the hotel, your welcomed by a doorman.

He was so friendly and would always say hello when we went out and came back – that kind of personal touch that makes all the difference.

Note: The staff at Middle Eight pride themselves on making every guest feel at home with their warm hospitality.

The entrance leads to a large open reception area, its incredibly bright with tall ceilings and funky artwork as soon as you walk in.

As soon as we walked in, we went to reception and was welcomed by the reception staff.

We’ve been twice now, the first time we came we had to wait a little bit for our room to be ready, so we just went and explored London for a bit and left our case at the hotel.

The second time, even though we got there around 4 hours before the check-in time our room was ready. We couldn’t believe it but it really does make a difference to be able to get straight into the room. Both times we were given a glass of champagne on arrival, which I have to say is a really nice touch.

The hotel also offers flexible check-in and check out options, so you can request early check-in or late check out depending on availability.

The staff where very friendly and they were very enthusiastic.

That personal touch instantly made us feel like guests instead of just another booking, an experience that’s refreshing in a city as busy as London.

Inside Our Urban Deluxe Room

The first thing you notice when entering the room is how much light the room lets in, and oh my god its incredible! Its also really refreshing to see a decent sized room for the centre of London, which is pretty rare if you ask me.

Some rooms or suites even feature a private balcony, offering a relaxing outdoor space to unwind.

You have the window and then opposite a giant mirror, which really helps to brighten the room and make it feel even bigger than it is.

The rooms themselves are incredibly clean and I have to say I absolutely loved the style and design, its exactly what you want when your staying in the city.

There’s plenty of cupboard space, mini fridge and a wide range of different cups and glasses depending on what you want to drink, provided alongside other thoughtful touches.

Inside the room is a kettle and a Nespresso machine, with a decent selection of tea bags, coffee and even some lovely little biscuits. The tea is accompanied by biscuits for a delightful treat.

We had a large double bed which was super comfy, I often struggle with hotel mattresses and pillows but these felt absolutely perfect.

There are plug sockets at either side of the bed, pretty standard now in most modern hotels but you know what, its surprising how handy it is to have them when your trying to charge everything.

Opposite the bed is a large TV and desk area, with a sofa just under the mirror.

The whole setup is really well thought out and makes the room feel like your own little sanctuary.

The bathroom is a decent size, marble wall tiles, black and blue sink with a large mirror and a double shower.

I have to say the shower for me was excellent, I love to have plenty of room to move around and I had loads of space to enjoy a proper long shower.

High-quality towels are provided, adding to the comfort and luxury of the bathroom.

You get a hand shower as well as the rainfall shower and some amazing smelling bodywash and shampoo.

I really couldn’t have asked for more, it was absolutely perfect.

Breakfast At The Middle Eight Hotel

Middle Eight are a little different when it comes to breakfast, and oh my god I love it. The main breakfast is table service and dishes are served fresh from the kitchen, where you can actually watch the chefs cooking each dish individually. This resulted in the breakfast tasting absolutely incredible.

I went for the full English and I have to say it was honestly one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had. It was amazing quality, accompanied by traditional sides.

You can still get pastries etc, which are available alongside the main breakfast menu; you just pick whatever you want nearby. Which is perfect because sometimes you just want a quick croissant.

One thing I also really love is they have takeaway boxes, you can take pastries and little pots of jam away with you. Perfect for a snack later on.

Drinks At The Bar

The bar is set up really nice, you’ve got some tables where you can drink and have some bar snacks and little dishes.

Guests can also enjoy grilled meats and pizzas as part of the bar menu, offering a taste of Italian cuisine alongside other delicious options. Then you’ve got more chilled out seats and sofas, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go round.

I have to say I loved the sofa area, it was perfect for people watching.

I love the design of the bar, it’s very open plan and on the ceiling is a maple leaf design. It really adds to the style of the entire hotel. The first time I walked in I just stood there looking up at the ceiling, it’s honestly stunning.

The bar does some nice drinks, we had a couple of Proseccos before heading out for the evening and then had a couple of cocktails served with style.

Rach was very happy with the Prosecco selection, she’s quite picky when it comes to bubbles.

I have to say the whisky cocktails were very nice and I would recommend them. If you’re a whisky lover like me, you’ll absolutely love what they’ve got on offer.

Beyond the drinks, the atmosphere in the bar is vibrant and inviting, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a day exploring Covent Garden or the nearby theatres. The lively ambiance is enjoyed alongside delicious food and drinks.

The friendly bartenders are knowledgeable and happy to suggest cocktails tailored to your taste, adding a personal touch to your experience.

If you’re a fan of wine, they’ve got an extensive menu.

What Attractions Are Near Middle Eight?

As I already mentioned, one of the reasons why we booked the Middle Eight Hotel is because of its great location. It’s located in Covent Garden, ideal if you enjoy going into the centre and enjoying a drink, food or watching some of the street performers.

It’s also really close to West End, ideal for if you’re taking in a show. We had eaten at the Savoy and went to see Back to The Future at the Adelphi Theatre, both of which are only about a 10 minute walk.

It’s also around 8 minutes away from the Royal Opera House. Just nearby, you’ll find Kingsway Hall, a historic site renowned as an iconic music venue in London, celebrated for its cultural and musical heritage and its impact on the area’s vibrant ambiance.

If you’re into your museums, the British Museum is a 10 minute walk away as well.

Even if you want to go to other attractions such as The Shard, Oxford street or even Buckingham Palace, Middle Eight is central and has easy access to the underground.

Its the kind of place where you can enjoy a night of music and feel good about it too. (I went to a gig there and oh my god, the atmosphere was incredible!)

Its all about luxury with a conscience, and it really adds to the character of your stay. I was amazed by how thoughtful every detail was (even down to the sustainable toiletries).

After staying at the Middle Eight Hotel in Covent Garden twice now, I have to say this place blew me away both times.

With its perfect mix of modern luxury, comfort and top service.

Not just another fancy London hotel, but something special.

With a location in the heat of Covent Garden, you’re surrounded by theatres, attractions and plenty of bars and restaurants.

The rooms are designed exceptionally well and you’ll get a stay that you’ll never forget.

We didn’t have one but there are even suites that have their own indoor gardens.

Maybe if we can visit again in the future, we’ll try and get one of these rooms. I know Edwin would love it and we want to go back so we can show him the hotel.

If you’re after a hotel that has a vibrant atmosphere and its just a little different to those stuffy luxury places, Middle Eight is perfect. As well as the amazing rooms, you also have great food at the Sycamore Vino Cucina restaurant and its also a iconic music venue in their QT bar.

I loved how alive the whole place felt!

The staff are genuinely attentive and warm – not just going through the motions but actually caring about your experience. I love thoughtful touches like a welcome champagne.

Its got style but doesn’t take itself too seriously, which I absolutely love.

The elephant in the room is that its fairly expensive when you compare it with some of the alternatives.

You do have to take into consideration that it is a 5 star hotel and it is located in the centre of Covent Garden.
